FAQ: Ready to Send Antigen?

Technical Suggestions for Sending Antigen

1. Do not use "thin" glass vials for storage of your immunogen. These have a tendency to break during freezing and especially during shipping.

2. When shipping immunogen on dry ice, do not seal any dry ice into a container such as in a screw-capped tube. These sealed containers can explode upon removal from the package.

3. When shipping your immunogen to CRP, please include the Polyclonal Antisera Request Form or a letter or note indicating your name and institution as well as other pertinent information. If the shipment is for ongoing studies, please include the animal numbers(s) for easy identification. If shipping includes a weekend, please contact us, since we can make arrangements with carriers for special delivery areas.

4. It is recommended that you aliquot your immunogen for each injection in order to minimize freeze-thaw cycles. There should be sufficient material in each vial to dose all animals which are to be immunized on a date with that specific immunogen. We will maintain any excess material and return it to you at your request or at the termination of the project.

5. When terminating your study, please indicate if you want a TERMINAL BLEED (exsanguination) or TERMINATION (with no bleed) along with the appropriate animal numbers.
